T-Bones 2019 partnership with Humana will support veterans and inspire fans to achieve their best health
KANSAS CITY, Ks. (May 14, 2019) – The Kansas City T-Bones and Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM), will bolster the fight against food insecurity among veterans through a food drive and Veterans Night at T-Bones Stadium. The goal of the food drive is to raise 5,000 meals for veterans and their families. On June 8, along with other activities pegged for Humana’s 2019 partnership with the T-Bones, a unique family and veterans fair will be hosted in the stadium parking lot.
At the T-Bones game on June 8, fans, veterans, and their families can meet with Veteran Service Organizations and other local, nonprofits where they can access the vital information and services that are most relevant for their lives. Organizations include Harvesters, After Action Network, Partners In Primary Care, among others. The T-Bones will also wear military-inspired jerseys especially designed for this game. The jerseys will be auctioned off during the game with proceeds going to the Veterans Community Project.
Ahead of the game on June 8, a community-wide food drive is underway and people can drop off non-perishable food items in barrels at several locations including participating HYVEE stores, Partners In Primary Care centers and VFW Posts.

Humana is highly involved with the Kansas City community and recently partnered with local nonprofits to raise 50,000 meals for veterans and their families. In 2018, the “Uniting to Combat Hunger” campaign – a collaboration between The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the U.S., Humana Inc., Harvesters–The Community Food Network and After the Harvest surpassed their goal of raising 50,000 meals for local individuals in need.
Humana also believes in achieving lifelong well-being which includes enjoying time with friends, or watching your favorite sporting event. “Our collaboration with the T-Bones expands our Bold Goal outreach and helps us to address the demand for supplemental food and other services in the Kansas City Metro area,” said Jeremy Gaskill, Humana’s regional president. “Joining the T-Bones gives Humana another opportunity to meet the needs of the community at a place where people come together to have fun and cheer on their favorite team.”
Food insecurity is a societal issue that affects 1 in 8 people in the United States. In the Kansas City area alone, nearly 14 percent of the community face food insecurity. Defined as the lack of access to enough nutritionally adequate foods to live an active, healthy life, food insecurity contributes to poor health, lower productivity and higher medical costs.

Group ticket sales are also on sale now. Opening day for the T-Bones is set for Friday, May 17th at T-Bones Stadium when the T-Bones host the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to open the 2019 season.
Box office hours are 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday – Friday and 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday.
